FortiClient Immediate Disconnects

Hello Group, I am having trouble with my FortiClient software. As soon as I connect to our VPN, the software says connected and then immediately says disconnected. My credentials are correct and others are able to access from other laptops without issues. My Environment Info: Client PC OS: Windows 8 FortiClient Version: 4.3.5.472 FortiNet Hardware: 200B Firmware Version: 5.0 SP3 I have tried to uninstall FortiClient and re-install with a system reboot in between without any luck. Has anyone seen this behavior before? Thank you very much,

Welcome to the forums. For troubleshooting purposes, I would try 2 things: 1) Log in with your user (or the failing one) from a working laptop 2) Have a working user login from the non-working laptop This way you can figure out if the problem lies in the user or the software installation. Hope that helps.

Hey Bob, Thank you for the quick reply. I just tried logging in on a working machine and my ID stays connected just fine. I also had a known working user log in on my machine and it connected and disconnected immediately. Very strange. Anything else I should try? Thank you,

I had some occasional issues with the 4.3 FortiClient on Windows8. Have you tried using a 5.0 FortiClient instead?

Hi So its definitely an VPN Client issue on your specific laptop. At what percentage does the connection disconnect..This will narrow the the issue. Have you tried accessing the SSL-VPN using the browser. Are you able to login to SSL-VPN browser CHECK the settings of fortissl VPN adapter. Phone No should be 1

Hey Rick, I just tried uninstalling version 4 and re-installing version 5. Unfortunately, I am still getting the same results. The connection will look like it is connecting and then it immediately disconnects. Very strange.

Have a look in your system logs on the Win8 box. See if they give you any clue as to why it is clamping off the connection. Also, do you have any host-based firewall or IPS enabled? If so you might check those to see if they give you any information.

This may shed some light on the issue. My Windows Firewall is disabled. FortiClient Log:

Hello, I have read online a few articles about disabling IPv6, but this has not resolved this issue. Here is the error message that I am getting in my log that concerns me.

Hey there, I will get to 98% just fine and from there it looks like it freezes up and then says in the system tray that forticlient is connected, it then immediately says that forticlient is down and the connect button reappears. I am not able to use the web as we do not have this set up. I checked the adapter and the phone number is set to 1. I have also tried completely uninstalling forticlient and scanning the registry and removing all traces of forticlient or fortinet then reinstalling with no luck. Thank you very much for the help in trying to fix this, --Scott
