FortiClient Application Firewall Troubleshooting

Hi all,

I'm looking for some troubleshooting advice, as I'm at a bit of an impasse. 

We are trying to implement FortiClient Application Firewall on our clients, but it's conflicting with another application.  We're in the education sector, and the app in question is a student VPN/web filtering tool.  We are not yet utilizing and have not enabled the SSL or IPSec VPN capabilities in Forticlient.  But whenever we enable the Application Firewall, even with all categories set to Allow, we lose connectivity on the device.

Working with Fortinet tech support, but not having much luck capturing the diagnostic data.  Just wondering if anyone has high level tips on how they may have gone about troubleshooting application conflicts like this.
