Smart Card / PIV can it work with the forticlient?

Hi, I am working with a customer of Fortigate/FortiClient who has YubiKey with Smart Card deployed internally and working correctly. Microsoft CA/AD all on prem. Now trying to use it with the forticlient they have for VPN. Wondered what needs to be enabled and where?

In my lab I am trying the free Forticlient and can almost get the client to see a SmartCard. No gateway to test against.
