Firmware upgrade path for FGT-60

Hi,

i have look now that FGT_60 (last fw V3 MR7 P10 build 754) can be upgraded at 4.1.10 ver so I can obtain AV virus definition that start from 4.0 into FortiGuard Service Update section

https://kb.fortinet.com/kb/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=FD45543&sliceId=...

One question : where I start? ;)

Thanks!

The Fortigate 60 is quite old, dating back to 2004-2006 or so.  Firmware V3 MR7 P10 build 754 appears to be the last known firmware that I could find on the support site - I could not locate any later firmwares beyond that, despite what that page you linked too have provided says.  Considering the age of this fgt, I would suggest getting a newer model.

+1 on what Dave said. There was a 'mistake' release in the 4.0.x series for that model, but that was a 'mistake'. 3.7.10 Build 754 is where support ends for that unit. Fortinet won't even support it, let alone let you get AV or any other contract on it. It will still work as a basic firewall, but that's about it.

OK

Thanks for your in-depth analysis even if I had a chance to update (see pic) even without finding any pkg update file.

Hi,

sorry but I return to the subject again because it is difficult for me to understand that FORTINET was wrong in compiling the upgrade sheet and the statement that updates are no longer available as explained with this data?

This confirms that updates are available for future versions of FortiOS

That screenshot shows "interm" beside the firmware name, which likely means it is a special firmware build provided by fortinet support directly - I can't even find that build on the fortinet firmware support site - as such any questions about it or obtaining AV virus definitions should be directed at them via support ticket

Right!

...then, there was NO MISTAKE on the Fortinet upgrade plan.

Thanks, for your comment.

Thanks for sharing that screenshot...old times coming back!

I've worked with a lot of hardware models, starting from FGT-50, and FOS v2.36. It feels heartworming to me to see where it all came from. Such a clarity in the GUI, all GREEN, all main functions (even Wireless controller) already on board - marvellous!

You've made my Sunday!

Thanks for your comment that I have appreciated very much!

If you have documentation (manuals, guides) related to this device and its FortiOS I will be happy to receive them because now there is nothing more available on the internet sites.
