I need to migrate a fortigate 900D to 1000D with FortiManager. I have more than 20 ipsec tunnels connected, more than 200 policies and many objects. Importing the settings from 900D to 1000D would you have to manually configure all tunnels and routes? Is there any more automated method?
Looking at the specs for both models - port-wise they look identical, that if they were on the same hardware firmware you likely can almost copy/replace the header line from a 1000D config onto a backup copy of 900D config and load that 900D config on the 1000D. (See KB#FD30056 or KB#10063.) Then on first boot, from the CLI perform a diagnose debug config-error-log read and edit/troubleshoot accordingly.
That said, not entirely sure if you need to backup/save/restore/re-generate any security certificates (if used) for those IPSec tunnels. (Anyone else care to chime in here?)
