Where do I start with FortiAnalyzer?

Hello!

My name is Henrique, and I am a 22 y/o apprentice, new user of FortiAnalyzer. The company I work at has been using Fortinet products for many years now, but haven't touched a whole lot in FortiAnalyzer yet.

Being like this, I have been assigned for being responsible to learn more about FortniAnalyzer and make use of its report system functions.

All I need to learn about is how to create simple, understandable reports, readable by non-IT people.

Unfortunately, I too have little understanding of coding language and technical functions. I've seen, however, that FortiAnalyzer possesses premade, simplistic reports and charts, that could be customized to suit the company's needs.

I have been searching for ways to get started through all the great videos and posts made by the team and community, and it has helped me a bit to understand basic concepts; but there isn't really anything related to getting started when you have such little knowledge of IT.

What I'm looking for are only basic datasets or variables I can use to create simple reports of the company's resources usage. So tell me: Where did you start? What helped you learn? Can you tell me, and anyone in the future who reads this topic, something we absolutely need to know?

Thank you for taking the time to read, and I hope I can get something from this!

Hello Henrique,

[ul]
  • The best way to start is from the ADMIN Guide . For example FAZ 6.0.1 [/ul]

    https://docs.fortinet.com/uploaded/files/4480/FortiAnalyzer-6.0.1-Administration-Guide.pdf

    FAZ has a feature called  Chart Builder . This  simply provides some sort of tool to those clients with non tech back ground. Check Creating charts --->P{45}

    [ul]
  • Also as you mentioned KB and videos can be very helpful. [/ul]

Creating a Custom report using Chart Builder Tool from Log View

    Customizing reports generated by FortiGate

    [ul]
  • Also there are some training courses available so I do encourage you to take those course. NSE5 FAZ is the one you are looking for .[/ul]

    Bonne Chance!

    Hello Bobby,

Thank you so much for your reply! Your help is greatly appreciated.

I'm currently taking a look at the FAZ guide and chart builder links you've provided, and it seems helpful so far.

The training courses you've mentioned also look very promising if I decide to pursue this career, after I get to know it better.

Anything else you feel like mentioning is absolutely welcome.

Thanks again for the reply, and I will put it to good use!
