Initiate a raid rebuild

Hello,

I made a test by removing a disk from FAZ and installing it back. Now the raid 50 is in degraded status as expected and the disk is in unused state.

How to initiate the raid rebuild process?

According to docummentation the FAZ should automatically add the disk into the array and rebuild the raid. But it is not happening.

I am running 5.6.4 on FAZ 1000E.

It has been forever since I mucked with one, but I believe I had to go into the GUI and tell the system the disk was reinserted/added. Been three versions and probably a dozen years. Please don't ask me details.

Thanks for update.

I probably found the "problem". I tested it with removing and inserting the same disk. Probably the serial number of the disk is flagged as wrong and it will not use the disk.

I inserted another disk from other FAZ and it started the rebuild process.

It works fine.

info: I was able to use the previous disk again by formating the raid with the command for RAID 50 (I am using):

# execute format disk-ext4 * Valid RAID levels: 0 Raid-0 1 Raid-1 1s Raid-1s 5 Raid-5 5s Raid-5s 6 Raid-6 6s Raid-6s 10 Raid-10 50 Raid-50 60 Raid-60

# execute format disk-ext4 50

All data and ADOM configuration was deleted of course.
