Java updates break RDP?

I have a FG-200B that is our SSL VPN web portal. Running MR3 Patch 5. Starting a couple of weeks ago, I had some users report problems connecting. It seemed random until I experienced the problems myself. I suddenly lost RDP functionality. It seems that Java 7 breaks the RDP function. I rolled my laptop back to Java 6 and it works fine. We let end-users hit OWA through a web-portal, so their Java version is out of my control. Does anyone know if updating to Patch 8 will fix this? Is it me, or has java compatibility gone down the tubes since Oracle bought them?
