FAZ VM64 - CPU Allocation

Hi,

On Vmware ESXi platform is present a FAZ with version 7.2.4

Premise, on the vcenter where I am operating the cpu and ram resources are available I have performed similar operations on other Fortinet vm's (Fortigate, ect)

Under edit settings -> cpu

This is the situation

Has anyone had a similar problem is it possible to have to have 2 cores each with 8 sockets ?

I don't think it's a fortinet license issue or the vm image installed on the vm.

I thank you for your attention and look forward to your opinion.

Best Regards

Hi,

I inform you that we have found the cause of what was reported.

This limitation is due to the hardware version of the vm hosting the FAZ.

Updates will follow, in the meantime thank you for your support

Hello @Mandalorian ,

FortiAnalyzer license doesn't have any restrictions about resources.  If you have resources you can give them.

However, FortiGate has different license types. You need to configure how many resources your license includes.

Also, you can review this document about the minimum requirements for FortiAnalyzer.

Hi @ozkanaltas
Thanks for reply, if you tell me that the faz vm has no licensing restrictions in this respect the only thing to think about is the image file installed on the vm.

Hi @Mandalorian

As, you can observe from this link there are limitation about the number of CPU's and memory.
https://www.avfirewalls.com/datasheets/FortiAnalyzer/FortiAnalyzer.pdf

What is required is a valid license with an IP that is setup on some interface, internet connection to validate it or Entitlement file which you can download from the asset page or request it from CS support.

Hello @vraev ,

I couldn't see any information about CPU and memory limitations for VM in the document you sent.

Are you sure about the information you provided?

Hi,
I am just writing to let you know that after hardware upgrade of the vm hosting FAZ we were able to assign 16 cpu to the machine.
As a precautionary measure, a snapshot of the vm and backup of the FAZ config had been done.
This activity in our case did not result in any impact to the FAZ.

Best Regards
